Catherine
Battles

Regina's Blackstar is named after Catherine's mom, who encouraged her to attend design school when others wanted her to pursue more traditional careers. Catherine graduated from Rita's House of Design, one of the top fashion houses in Ghana. She opened her own shop and managed ten employees/trainees, teaching them how to sew. The company, Naa Aku Sika Designs, sewed for some of the elite bankers and business people in Accra, the nation's capital district. After getting married, Catherine left Ghana and moved to Germany, continuing her business sewing custom designs.

She worked at various tailoring shops, but never had the opportunity to go back to the root of her education, design. Catherine moved with her husband and family to the US, and in 2017, Catherine launched Reginas Blackstar to return to her first love, fashion and accessory design.

Louise Gunderson

Louise started her journey with knitting as a young girl, learning to knit from her grandmother at the age of 8. Later, she learned to crochet from a family friend. These two skills grew together into a passion for yarn crafts. Her passion began with crafting innovative, unique creations for her family, friends, and charity. Finding community in creating shawls for chronically ill individuals, she led a prayer shawl ministry and started a second one at a local church. As her hobby blossomed, she branched out into selling items at craft fairs in town around 2008. Her consistent success encouraged her to pursue crafting for a store. That led her to find Art a La Cart in 2019, where she has bloomed. She has not only been an active crafter and store personality but now assists with keeping the books as well. She continues to create innovative patterns for her family, friends, pets, and community and truly enjoys sharing them with the community through our storefront.
