Cardinal and Blue Jay Timeout

Size: 17 x 14 framed original watercolor

Cardinal and Blue Jay Timeout was inspired by a photograph taken by famous wildlife photographer, Jerry Action, Berkshire, NY. After observing several low passes at this male Cardinal who would not budge, the Blue Jay had to settle for a back row branch.

This watercolor painting was executed by me with dry brush techniques and wet-on-wet washes of Winsor-NewtonTM watercolor on archival AmpersandTM gessobord. When finished, I protected the entire vibrant paint surface by spraying fine layers of archival GoldenTM gloss then matte varnishes with UV filters and stabilizers. It is framed by a 2" gold gilt decorated mahogany hardwood.

If you want something different from traditional wall presentations, more contemporary, choose to print on either a metal (satin or mid-gloss) or an acrylic or non-glare acrylic. These cost a bit more because of the technology but produce a crystal clear finish that has more intense color and detail without the cost of framing.
