Photography, Mixed Media, Assemblage
My choices in pursuing art as a passion have taken me in many directions. College was drawing, primarily studies of the human form. Photography entered my life 20 years later as I was at the height of my horticultural career as a nursery owner and founder. My first foray into gallery space began with my photography and it took many turns which included transfers to various surfaces, encaustic (the use of wax over an image), Polaroid transfers, images on cracked plaster and wood surfaces. Then began a venture into something I thought needed to be more tangible, more 3D. Assemblage became my new passion and so it has been for many years. I love the challenge, of which there are many, my work space is filled with bins of items that seem to be misaligned, entirely incompatible. The final product is something that cannot be defined by the time spent in the building process. I will be here awhile and don't find myself leaving this humbling art process that can take you to the depths of frustration and send you soaring into the stratosphere with happiness when everything finally comes together. Please enjoy a cursory view of my art, items will come and go, products will change so please check back.
